Personalized professional learning tips are provided to educators from the resulting student engagement data. Tips are personalized to an educator’s lesson plan and survey results, and provided by a cadre of Tip Masters who have been selected based on their subject area expertise.
Alice Aspinall, B.Math(Hon), B.Ed, is a Portuguese-Canadian secondary mathematics
educator in Ontario, Canada. She is a strong advocate of the growth mindset. Alice is
continually looking for ways to build young people’s confidence in math and to make
math fun, challenging, and satisfying. Her innovative lessons and her dedication in the
classroom have made a positive impact on her students’ attitudes toward math. Her
YouTube channel, “MrsALovesMath,” exemplifies her commitment to her students’
Alice is also a champion for females in STEM by encouraging girls to pursue science
and mathematics both in high school and in post-secondary education.
Alice believes everyone can learn math and she is on a mission to prove it. She is the

David Lockett is a Computer Science and STEM Middle School Teacher at Bok Academy in Lake Wales, Florida. David was also honored in 2020 when he was awarded the ISTEM STEM PLN Award.
Deann Poleon has been teaching for 21 years. She has spent most of her career as a secondary ELA instructor in the WNY area. She is presently a Technology Integrator for her district. Her interest in technology began when she was working to improve her classroom instruction.
Since becoming a Technology Integrator in 2018, Deann has become an Adobe Creative Educator, Google Certified Educator, Flipgrid Certified Educator, Nearpod Certified Educator, Wakelet Community Leader and a Buncee Ambassador. She has presented on technology integration and digital citizenship at NYSCATE 2019 and 2020 as well as FETC 2020.
Science & STEAM
Denise Wright, is an online and face to face STEM Educator in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was a nominee for 2015 National Online Teacher of the Year and was one of the first teacher’s in her state to pilot a 1926 historic, Alvan Clark Refracting Telescope, in partnership with the South Carolina State Museum. The historic telescope is used in a classroom distance learning environment to view the night sky.
Denise, volunteers for NASA as a Solar System Ambassador, is a founder of the community amateur astronomy group, Grand Strand Astronomers, and AstroSTEM Club, for middle school students. She writes a column for the National Science Teaching Association, journal, Science Scope, called “The Online Teacher”. The column focuses on best practices for teaching science in an online or hybrid environment.
Joe Brausam is an upper elementary music teacher based in New Jersey. He has experience
teaching band, choir, general music, music theory, and rock history. Mr. Brausam is an active
member of the New Jersey Music Educators Association, coordinator for junior high honor
bands for the South Jersey region, and also maintains an active freelancing career in music.
Mr. Brausam works to explore the cross sections of music and technology in the classroom to
create exciting educational experiences for his students. He is familiar with a wide variety of
platforms and applications for music creation and has implemented many of them in the
Joe graduated from The College of New Jersey with a B.M. in Music Education and earned his
M.M. in Conducting at Messiah College.
Justin currently teaches physical education, health, and technology in Central NJ. He previously taught for 5 years at Mercer County Special Services and Lambertville Public School.
He is the brain behind #slowchatpe and slowchatpe.wordpress.com which is the impetus for the slow chat (question a day) which is a question a day on Twitter and Voxer. He is also the co-creator of voxerpe.com and the voxer physical education chat which has 500 physical education teachers from all over the world.
Science & Social Studies
Kendre Perry, M.Ed, is currently a 6th grade Science and Social Studies teacher in Cincinnati, OH, is the Professional Development Chair for the ISTE Mobile Learning Network’s leadership team. She presents at the national and local levels to educators about meaningful technology integration.
Her areas of EdTech interest include Augmented and Virtual Reality, Formative Assessment Tools, Generation Z, Engaging Presentation Tools, and Google Tools for Learning.
English Language Arts
Laura Steinbrink, a teacher for 25 years, presents technology and instructional practices at workshops locally, around her state, and nationally. She is also the Technology Integration Coach, Communications Director, Webmaster, yearbook adviser and high school English/Spanish teacher for the Plato R-V School District.
Laura is the author of www.rockntheboat.com, a Feedspot Top 200 blog in Education, and she has published articles for Matt Miller, author of Ditch That Textbook; Denis Sheeran, author of Instant Relevance; and articles for ISTE, ISTE TEN, Kahoot, Getting Smart, Parent Square, Classtime, and other educational related companies. Laura is also a contributing author in: Focused Environments, Stories of Change Vol 3, published by Connected Learning, and In Other Words: Quotes That Push Our Thinking by Rachelle Dene Poth, published by Edumatch Publishing.
Laura’s work in the classroom has been featured in: ISTE’s Empowered Learner Magazine, What Works: Sketchnoting engages students while building comprehension, Designed to Learn by Dr. Lindsay Portnoy, and featured twice in Tech Like A Pirate by Matt Miller. Laura also co-authored a Microsoft Education course: Creative Expression and Social Emotional Learning with Buncee.
Mr. Oliveira is the Director of Unified Arts and the ELL specialist at Middletown High School in Middletown, Rhode Island. He holds a Master’s Degree in Bilingual-Bicultural Education and is certified in Computer Science, English as a Second Language, and Spanish. He has over 30 years of teaching and leadership. His own life experiences as an ELL student from Portugal give him a unique perspective while
working with English Learners.
Mr. Oliveira advocates for access and opportunity for all students. He is
also a Technology Innovation Coach. He uses technology to give all students a voice. He is a MIEExpert, MIE Trainer, a Global Learning Mentor, a Flipgrid Voice Ambassador, a Wakelet Ambassador, and an Adobe Creative Educator. He is also a Newsela and GoFormative Certified Educator.
Mr. Oliveira is an Adjunct Professor at Roger William University where he teaches a course designed to provide future educators with technological tools to enhance teaching and learning.
Melisa Hayes is currently a 2nd grade teacher. She holds a Bachelor’s & Master’s
degree in Education. This will be her 24th year in education. She is a Wakelet, Flipgrid, & Night
Zookeeper ambassador & an Apple Distinguished Educator. She is a part of Our Global
Classroom which is a family of educators around the globe who always puts our kids 1st &
strives to teach the SDG’s & bring a universal call to action to better our world!
Ms. Hayes is also a part of the 4 o’clock Faculty which is her family of educators who discuss every aspect of education and how they can better ourselves for their kids! She is passionate about inclusion and
teaching the whole child!
Ms. Hayes loves to spend time with her family: walking their dog, playing board games, traveling, and making memories. She also loves being active: walking, running, biking with her #TheWalkingEd family who motivate and inspire her to stay healthy both on the inside and out.
Her first year of teaching was as a substitute for grades K-8. Later, she became a 2nd grade teacher at
Sunrise Academy. Finally, she has worked in Hilliard City Schools teaching 2nd for 21 year, and is currently teaching 2nd grade in their Online Academy.
Ms. Hayes love to play softball and stay connected to my Professional Learning Family on Twitter and Voxer. They continue to motivate and inspire her daily!
Richard Faber has been teaching at Syosset High School for the past 27 years. He obtained his BS in Physical Education and Health Certification from Ithaca College and his Masters and School District Administration Certificate is from Stony Brook University. Mr.Faber is also a certified Driver Education Instructor and he has been the Coordinator of Driver and Traffic Safety at Syosset since 1999.
Richard teaches Peer Leadership at Syosset and he also teaches wellness classes. He has trained numerous teachers in Peer Mediation and Conflict Resolution and he has presented workshops on Character Education, Conflict Resolution, Student Engagement, to name a few across Long Island. Richard is no stranger to teacher education; he has been teaching in-service and graduate classes for the past 15 years. He looks forward to continuing educating teachers in all the different types of courses he offers.
Zee Ann Poerio
Zee Ann Poerio has been teaching for 23 years. She has taught 3rd-5th grade, K-8 Computer Technology, and 7th & 8 grade Exploratory Classics at a Catholic School in PIttsburgh, Pennsylvania. She also serves as the advisor for the school’s Student Technology Team, is a teacher ambassador for various Educational Technology Companies, and serves on the planning committee for regional Education Technology Conferences and workshops.
Zee received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications and Technology in 2014, the Excellence in Teaching Award from the National Catholic Education Association in 2017, and a Merita Award from the American Classical League for her work integrating technology across the curriculum.
This year, 2020, she was honored as a member of the 100Kin10 National Teacher Forum to promote STEM (74 teachers selected), and was recognized at the 2020 Carnegie Science Middle Level Educator Honoree. @MagistraZee loves learning, sharing, and presenting at local, state, and national conferences including TRETC, PETE&C, NYSCATE, PSMLA, CUE, ACL, and ISTE.
